Italian Gilded Leather Bag

Gorgeous 1960's black leather envelope-style bag with incredible gilded leather over the front and back! Gilded leather refers to a technique that originated in the 6th century, but became popularized in Europe in the Middle Ages. The golden appearance is obtained by applying the leather with silver leaf, and then applying a yellow varnish. This style of gilding is Florentine, so this bag is likely vintage Italian. In unused condition. Retractable strap, snap closure, slot compartment on the inside, and flap lined in black leather.

PLEASE NOTE: There is some minor cracking along the edges in a few areas but not noticeable.
